Tiny Treat Bowl

tiny pumpkin bowlToday’s Project: Crochet Pumpkin Treat Bowl
Size: 3 x 3
Pattern By: Meredith Crawford
Hook: H
Yarn: RHSS in pumpkin, hunter green
Pattern from: Ravelry

Notes: This cute little bowl was the October CAL in the Red Heart Group on Ravelry. It only took a couple of hours to make (at a leisurely pace, probably the only pace I have these days). It’s very tiny so it wouldn’t hold many treats but I think it’d be great filled with Hershey’s Kisses. I modified the lid just a tad by adding one extra decrease round, and one extra finishing round. For the stem I just did two rows of SC and attached it in some odd, convoluted manner that seemed like a good idea at the time.

Round Ripple Update

Round Ripple Progress
Here’s my progress on the round ripple blanket I started. It’s 34 inches across at this point. I’ve gone from five rounds between the black rounds to four because that’s all a single skein of Vanna’s Choice will do at this point. I have two more colors of green, two skeins of each, left. Then I’m going back to a burgundy color to finish. I have mountains of burgundy. I bought a boatload when I had grand plans of making a pull over. I’ve scrapped that idea…

Rainbow Ripple Baby Blanket

Ripple Blanket 1Today’s Project: Rainbow Ripple Baby Blanket
Size: To be determined
Pattern By: Celeste Young
Hook: H
Yarn: Loops & Threads Impeccable claret, mystery yarn beige/white variegated, Vanna’s Choice in various greens, TLC claret, Red Heart With Love Black.
Pattern from: Ravelry

Notes: Yeah, I joined another CAL. Obviously mine isn’t going to be a rainbow colored baby blanket. I’m thinking to make this one as big as I have suitable stash yarn for. It works up really fast. I completed the part shown in the course of a couple of days. The pattern is easily memorized so I just made a cheat sheet to check off as I finish each round. We’ll see how it goes!

I didn’t like how the white variegated was behaving or looking, so I switched to black on the separator rounds. I like that much better.

Chevron Pillow

Christmas pillowToday’s Square: Chevron Pillow
Size: 13 x 10.6 inch
Pattern By: Marianne Forrestal
Hook: H
Yarn: Worsted weight acrylic RHSS Paddy Green, Hot Red.
Pattern from: Ravelry

Notes: I did something a little different and made a pillow. A pillow in Christmas colors! I used a smaller hook than called for and my pillow was 3 inches smaller all around than the pattern. Instead of using a pillow form as directed, I stuffed it with fiberfill. I’m not entirely satisfied with my whip stitching on the ends. If I made another one, I will carry two colors across so there’s less chance of seeing the color bleed through every other stripe.

I took this project traveling with me to the doctor. While I was waiting for the bus, several random people exclaimed “Christmas in July!” as they passed by me. 😀
