BOOK: 50 More Crocheted Afghan Borders

14 Jan

50 More Crochet BordersMy second recent Amazon purchase was “50 More Crocheted Afghan Borders” by Jean Leinhauser. The late Jean Leinhauser was a major figure in the world of crochet, and one of her now out of print books can be seen going for more than $100!

In contrast to the Eckman book, these borders are less fanciful and more down to earth. Most of them are ones you’d likely to use on a regular basis if you like a more traditional look.

The book doesn’t tell you how to handle corners. It’s not always as simple as just turning and continuing especially with a wide border. The upside to these patterns is they’re great for trims! For example if you want to add a crochet trim to a lampshade or the bottom of a pair of bistro curtains or a valance. This is one reason I picked this book up, because I was thinking of making some trims for things.

The book retails for $8.95 so you really can’t go wrong adding it to your reference library of crochet patterns.

I wasn’t able to locate any videos on this one (but that doesn’t mean there aren’t any!). It hasn’t been done yet on Ravelry either. Is there something in particular that’s giving you trouble? Maybe I can help?
