My second recent Amazon purchase was “50 More Crocheted Afghan Borders” by Jean Leinhauser. The late Jean Leinhauser was a major figure in the world of crochet, and one of her now out of print books can be seen going for more than $100!
In contrast to the Eckman book, these borders are less fanciful and more down to earth. Most of them are ones you’d likely to use on a regular basis if you like a more traditional look.
The book doesn’t tell you how to handle corners. It’s not always as simple as just turning and continuing especially with a wide border. The upside to these patterns is they’re great for trims! For example if you want to add a crochet trim to a lampshade or the bottom of a pair of bistro curtains or a valance. This is one reason I picked this book up, because I was thinking of making some trims for things.
The book retails for $8.95 so you really can’t go wrong adding it to your reference library of crochet patterns.
