Floral Overlay

24 Apr

Floral OverlayToday’s Square: Floral Overlay
Size: 6 inch
Pattern By: James G Davis
Hook: H
Yarn: Worsted weight acrylic. TLC Essentials Red Plum, RHSS Sierra, TLC Heathers Lt. Denim.
Pattern from: Ravelry

Notes: Holy guacamole, this is a fiddly square!! It’s worked in two pieces–the flower and the loopy part are one piece. Then you make the back part and while you’re making it you attach the loopy parts (which contain picots, too) on two different rounds. I probably wouldn’t make this one again, and I wish I’d chosen a more contrasty color for the loopy parts. From the “50 Fabulous Crochet Squares” book. To make things worse, all three skeins of yarn knotted on me during the crochet–even the yarn didn’t like it. I was so tired when I finished it I couldn’t even get a decent pic.

you got me on the first line. Definitely not a square for this Tart to try, but it certainly is extremely pretty 🙂

I probably wouldn’t have chosen to make this square after reading the pattern, but since I lead a group on Ravelry that’s working through this book I felt obligated. 😮 I’ve made all the easy ones and now all that’s left are tricky ones…
