The Yarn Has Landed

I understand now why the post people were trying to shove delivery of this off on each other (we have a different carrier every day). There must be 10 pounds or more of yarn!! Tons of full skeins, and what looks to be the equivalent of 10 skeins of multicolored chenille! I might make a little throw just of that. There are a lot of little balls that range in size from ping pong ball size to grapefruit size, too. Those will be good for making scrap squares. I’m truly amazed by this kindness. I was expecting maybe a few skeins and some odds and ends. Now I must go gaze at my yarn for awhile…

 

Pretty Pretty

Another Lista find. Look how nice they look together! I just like looking at the color. I think that’s my problem with amassing yarn. I just like the way it looks. But hey, it’s free!

Maybe I should stop getting yarn and start making something with it. Nahhhhhhhhhh.

Got another free yarn windfall! There are all kinds–Homespun, baby yarn, novelty yarn, cotton yarn. The variegated blue in the foreground is a full 6 ounce skein of Red Heart Super Saver Ocean. That gives an idea of how much yarn there is.

Also included were a couple of old crochet magazines and pamphlets to add to my collection! Happy day!

It arrived on my doorstep in one of those see through plastic zipper bags that comforters come in. No tape or other packaging. I’m very impressed that it made its way here intact!

 

Another Yarn Windfall

Listia comes through again with these yarn beauties. Two skeins of RHSS Sierra, one skein of TLC Essentials Villa, and three balls of Lily Sugar n Cream cotton in denim blue.

Somebody asked me how I get all these lovely things on Lista. Listia is basically a barter site. You list things to give away and buyers pay with credits they’ve built up. You in turn use your credits for “giving things away” to get free things. In order to get credits I list some graphics that I make, which don’t get many credits usually. Sometimes I’ll list a piece of jewelry that I’ve made or some jewelry findings since I can’t really see well enough to make jewelry anymore. Finally, I have a couple of survey sites that I earn rewards on. One of the rewards is Amazon.com gift cards. I list those cards, they bring lots of points, I get a haul like this one. Money never changes hands, which is a good thing when you don’t have money for yarn to begin with.

Yarn used to be a good point bargain on Listia, but now it seems a lot of yarnies have discovered it so it takes more points to get yarn. I’ve also gotten some rare, out of print crochet books, and , yes, even coupons for free candy or guacamole. Sometimes guac trumps yarn.

 

They Spoke to Me

Here are three more bits of free yarn I got on Listia. I don’t know what it was, but when I saw those three colors together they just spoke to me. I’m not normally a fan of mustard yellow but I just had to have them. I don’t know what I’ll use them for yet, but it’s another of those “just right” projects I’ll have to search for.
